A New Era for FIRST LEGO League: Inspiring the Next Generation of Learners

FIRST® LEGO® League has engaged millions of children in STEM through robotics for nearly 30 years.
The program is evolving to better meet the needs of educators and students, focusing on classroom integration.
New features include wireless hardware, embedded game models, semi-cooperative matches, and unique player roles.
Updated age and grade bands simplify participation: 5-7 and 8-14 (US/Canada), 5-7 and 8-16 (internationally).
The 2025-2026 UNEARTHED™ season marks the end of the Discover division for ages 4-6.
Transition period (2026-2028) includes parallel editions: Founders (SPIKE™-based) and Future (LEGO Education Computer Science & AI).
After 2027-2028, the program will unify under a simpler structure, retiring division names and legacy technology.
