- Ubuntu 26.04 LTS (Resolute Raccoon) is scheduled for release in April 2026 and is currently in development.
- It is a long-term support (LTS) release, receiving security updates and critical bug fixes for five years until April 2031, with an optional Ubuntu Pro subscription extending support to ten years via ESM.
- Desktop requirements include a 2 GHz dual-core processor, 6GB RAM, and 25GB free hard drive space; server requirements start lower at 1.5GB RAM and 4GB hard drive space.
- Installation options include ISO-based installs via USB/DVD or pre-built images for cloud, virtualized, and bare-metal environments; an internet connection is recommended but not mandatory for initial setup.
- Upgrades from Ubuntu 24.04 LTS or 25.10 are supported, but users on older releases like 22.04 LTS or 25.04 must first upgrade to 24.04 LTS or 25.10 before moving to 26.04 LTS.
