Salesforce lays off employees in a new round of cuts

Salesforce conducted new layoffs affecting employees in Agentforce AI, Mulesoft, and Marketing Cloud teams, with 86 cuts in roles like sales and technology in California, and also in Washington state and internationally.
Affected California employees will stay on payroll until Aug. 7; severance is based on level and tenure (up to 6 months), with an extra 4 weeks for those aged 60+.
The layoffs come amid concerns that AI could replace traditional software like Salesforce's CRM, with the stock down over 30% this year, as the company pushes its own AI offerings, including Agentforce, which has surpassed $1 billion in annualized revenue despite earlier performance issues.
This follows a previous round of layoffs in January (under 1,000 roles), with Salesforce having over 80,000 employees as of late January.
