- The COP1-ADA2b module regulates DNA double-strand break (DSB) repair in Arabidopsis in response to light.
- Light induces accumulation of ADA2b, while COP1 mediates its ubiquitination and degradation via the 26S proteasome.
- COP1 acts downstream of cryptochromes (CRYs) and phytochrome B (phyB) but upstream of ADA2b in the DNA repair pathway.
- The cop1-4 mutant shows enhanced DNA damage resistance, whereas phyA/phyB mutants are hypersensitive under red light.
- The antagonistic regulation of ADA2b by photoreceptors and COP1 helps maintain genome stability under varying light conditions.
