Iran unleashes Shahed drones aimed at targets across Middle East

Iran's Shahed 136 drones have been used in attacks across the Gulf region, targeting Bahrain, Kuwait, and the UAE.
The drones are relatively low-cost and easy to manufacture, making them a persistent threat in conflicts.
Shahed 136s can carry a 50kg explosive payload, enough to damage but not destroy large structures like skyscrapers.
These drones have a range of up to 1,250 miles and can be preprogrammed or remotely piloted.
Initially designed by Iran, the Shahed 136 drones have been widely used by Russia in the war in Ukraine.
In Ukraine, the drones have been effective against static targets, particularly utility infrastructure, causing widespread power and heating issues.
Recent attacks in the Gulf suggest Iran may be adopting similar tactics used in Ukraine, targeting critical infrastructure like oil refineries.
