Hotel bookings for 2026 are significantly behind target, risking over $200,000 in damages to the PSF if not improved, due to a decline in international and some domestic attendees amid current travel uncertainties.
The PSF signed a contract for the Long Beach venue in July 2023 and is now focused on attracting more domestic attendees, but this hasn't fully offset the drop in hotel bookings compared to previous years.
Attendees are urged to book official conference hotels through their PyCon US 2026 dashboard by deadlines (first block closes April 20th, last block closes April 24th) to help avoid damages and support the event.
Current data shows hotel nights sold as of April 12, 2026 are 2,192, far short of the 3,338 needed by April 20th to avoid damages, requiring an additional 1,146 nights to be sold.
