- Invented around 1916 by John Lloyd Wright, son of architect Frank Lloyd Wright.
- Named after Abraham Lincoln, who lived in a log cabin.
- Originally made of redwood, later included plastic sets, but reverted to wood.
- Design based on the interlocking log beams of the Imperial Hotel in Tokyo.
- Inducted into the National Toy Hall of Fame in 1999.
- Manufactured by Basic Fun, Inc., under license from Hasbro.
- Production moved back to the U.S. in 2014 but later returned to China.
- Basic Fun filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in 2024 but continues operations.
