- The study investigates the impact of blood pressure (BP) reduction due to levosimendan infusion on in-hospital mortality in acute heart failure (AHF) patients.
- A retrospective cohort study of 161 AHF patients treated with levosimendan between 2017 and 2024 was conducted.
- Significant associations were found between higher in-hospital mortality and larger reductions in systolic BP (SBP) and mean arterial pressure (MAP) post-infusion.
- Multivariable analysis confirmed that a larger SBP reduction was an independent predictor of in-hospital mortality.
- Absolute post-infusion SBP values were also independently associated with mortality, but in patients with SBP >90 mmHg post-infusion, only the SBP reduction remained significant.
- Monitoring SBP changes post-levosimendan infusion could enhance risk stratification and clinical decision-making in AHF patients.
