Adrian Frutiger adapted Univers for the Composer, but faced constraints from IBM's fixed unit system, leading to design compromises.
The Composer's mechanical limitations caused issues with glyph alignment and weight, resulting in identifiable idiosyncrasies in output.
Despite being obsolete by the 1990s, the Composer was used in various publications, and digitizing its fonts involves scaling calculations to match original unit sizes.
