- HCC recurrence rate was 6.9% in liver transplants treated with hypothermic oxygenated machine perfusion (HOPE).
- 5-year overall survival rates were 81% for HOPE-treated HCC recipients, significantly better than non-perfused livers (74%).
- No significant difference in HCC recurrence between DBD and DCD liver transplants (7.1% vs. 6.4%).
- Recurrence-free survival rates at 1, 3, and 5 years were 90%, 83%, and 78%, respectively.
- HOPE-treated HCC recipients had comparable survival outcomes to non-HCC recipients (82% vs. 84%).
- Machine liver perfusion may improve oncological outcomes by mitigating inflammation and reducing tumor cell seeding.
