- Study investigated T-cell responses after primary SARS-CoV-2 mRNA vaccination in individuals with Down syndrome (DS) aged 3-74 years.
- Adolescents (12-17 years) and adults showed similar activation of SARS-CoV-2-specific CD4+ T cells.
- Children aged 5-11 years had significantly lower CD4+ T cell activation compared to adolescents.
- Interferon-gamma (IFNγ) production was similar across all age groups.
- Reduced vaccine dosing in younger children may contribute to diminished T-cell responses, suggesting they might benefit from booster doses or adjusted dosing.
