- HDAP prevalence in non-diabetic AP patients was 37.5% using a glucose threshold of >140 mg/dL and 7.1% for >200 mg/dL.
- HDAP significantly predicted early-onset diabetes post-AP: 14.8% with HDAP140 and 42.9% with HDAP200 developed diabetes, compared to 1.2% and 3.5% without, respectively.
- Absence of HDAP showed high negative predictive values (99% for HDAP140, 97% for HDAP200) for diabetes risk.
- Monitoring glycemia during AP can help identify high-risk patients for targeted post-discharge care.
