Sonic Pi v5 has been released, marking the largest leap in functionality and capability to date.
The synthesis engine was reworked, moving from SuperCollider's scsynth to the new SuperSonic, which supports changing audio settings without restarting and offers new IO for MIDI, OSC, and game controllers.
The editor interface was improved with a new autocompletion system, context-specific helper widgets, fuzzy matching, and inline documentation.
Documentation received an overhaul, including live playable synths for exploration, and a new QuickStart Card system for beginners with interactive code snippets.
Accessibility was enhanced with better autocompletion interaction and focus jumping, while color theming was updated with new themes and modifier functions.
