Amazon will start drone delivery in Kansas City before the holidays.
Service covers a 7.5-mile radius from Amazon facilities in both Kansas City, MO, and KS.
Drones weigh 80 pounds and are 5 feet, 5 inches tall.
Packages are dropped from 10-12 feet; fragile items may not qualify.
Each facility has 12 drones, with batteries replaced for each flight.
Items must be under 5 pounds and fit in a specific box.
Delivery costs $4.99, but free for orders over $50.
Over 30 new jobs will be added at each facility.
