GitHub Copilot is moving to usage-based billing

GitHub Copilot plans will move to usage-based billing starting June 1, 2026, replacing premium request units with GitHub AI Credits.
Monthly plans will include an allotment of AI Credits, with pricing based on token consumption (input, output, cached) using published API rates.
Base plan prices remain unchanged: Copilot Pro ($10/month), Pro+ ($39/month), Business ($19/user/month), Enterprise ($39/user/month).
Code completions and Next Edit suggestions remain included and do not use AI Credits; fallback experiences will no longer be available.
Business and Enterprise customers get promotional credits for June-August 2024 and gain pooled usage and budget controls for managing spend.
A preview billing experience will launch in early May 2024 to show projected costs before the transition.
