- Elevated Lp(a) levels (≥125 nmol/L) are linked to increased VTE risk in premenopausal women (aHR 1.32, p=0.02).
- No significant association was found between Lp(a) and VTE in postmenopausal women not using MHT or in men overall.
- Among postmenopausal women using menopausal hormone therapy (MHT), high Lp(a) was associated with higher VTE risk (aHR 1.48, p=0.03).
- Oral contraceptive use did not modify the Lp(a)-VTE relationship in premenopausal women (interaction p=0.61).
- Study suggests hormonal context influences Lp(a)-associated thrombotic risk, with findings from UK Biobank data over 13.6-year median follow-up.
