Jürgen Habermas, one of Germany's most significant intellectuals, has passed away.
He was a leading philosopher and sociologist, known for works like 'Strukturwandel der Öffentlichkeit' and 'Theorie des kommunikativen Handelns'.
Habermas began his career at the Institut für Sozialforschung in Frankfurt under Theodor W. Adorno in the 1950s.
He held a professorship at the University of Frankfurt, succeeding Max Horkheimer, and later led the Max-Planck-Institut in Starnberg.
During the student revolts, he supported the movement but opposed its radicalization.
In his later years, he commented on political issues like the Kosovo War and brain research.
Habermas passed away at the age of 96 in Starnberg.
