David Hildenbrand, a prominent Linux kernel engineer, is leaving Red Hat.
He updated the Linux kernel's mailmap and MAINTAINERS entries to reflect his departure, switching to his kernel.org email.
Hildenbrand's Red Hat email will remain active only until January.
He has been a key contributor to Linux kernel memory management, VirtIO, and other low-level areas.
In 2025 alone, he authored or was mentioned in over 1,000 mainline Linux kernel patches.
His next career move in the Linux kernel space remains undisclosed.
