A big rig car-carrier loaded with eight Teslas caught fire on the Golden State (5) Freeway in Sylmar.
The fire resulted in toxic smoke, leading to the shutdown of all southbound lanes.
The fire was reported at 5:35 p.m. and extinguished by 9:30 p.m.
Six of the eight Teslas on the trailer were burned, with the semi-tractor severely damaged.
No injuries were reported, but motorists were warned to avoid the toxic smoke.
Cleanup and removal of vehicles were expected to take two to three hours post-fire.
