Google paid startup Form Energy $1B for its 30GWh, 100-hour battery

Google is building a new data center in Minnesota powered by wind, solar, and Form Energy's iron-air battery.
The battery project costs about $1 billion and can deliver 300 MW of electricity for 100 hours.
Form Energy's battery works by rusting iron with oxygen, releasing electrons to store energy.
The battery will support 1.4 GW of wind power and 200 MW of solar power.
Form Energy has raised $1.4 billion to date and is raising another $500 million.
The company plans to go public next year and has a factory in West Virginia.
