- 44.5% of chronic cough (CC) patients had sensitive skin syndrome (SSS), with higher prevalence in refractory/unexplained CC (RU-CC) patients (63.24% vs. 34.85%).
- SSS patients showed heightened cough sensitivity, higher VAS scores, lower LCQ scores, and increased psychological burden compared to non-SSS patients.
- RU-CC patients with SSS had better cough responses to neuromodulators than non-SSS patients (79.3% vs. 44.4% response rate).
- Early recognition of SSS in CC patients and early use of neuromodulators may improve therapeutic outcomes.
