- Overexpression of STX4 in various models (MIN6 cells, human and murine islets, NOD mice) reduced markers of senescence such as p21 and γH2AX.
- STX4 expression preserves nuclear Lamin B1 in β-cells and modifies the β-cell secretome, particularly affecting purine ribonucleotide metabolism.
- The findings suggest STX4 could be a therapeutic target to maintain β-cell function and delay type 1 diabetes progression.
