- Cardiogenic shock (CS) in acute myocardial infarction (AMI) has a mortality rate exceeding 50%.
- The Shock-POL registry evaluated 141 AMI-related CS patients in Poland in 2023.
- Most patients were in SCAI class C (50.4%), followed by D (32.6%) and E (17.0%).
- Percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) was performed in 94.3% of cases, while CABG in 3.5%.
- Mechanical circulatory support (MCS) was used in 23.4% of patients, including IABP, Impella, and VA-ECMO.
- In-hospital mortality was 47.5%, and 30-day mortality was 51.8%.
- Independent predictors of mortality included non-ST-elevation AMI, lack of antibiotic therapy, elevated lactates, and age.
- Short-term mortality remains around 50%, highlighting the need for further research on MCS efficacy.
