- Acupuncture was evaluated for its effect on poor ovarian response (POR) in a multicenter randomized controlled trial.
- 140 women with POR were divided into an acupuncture group (36 sessions before COH) and a control group (IVF only).
- No significant difference was found in the number of oocytes retrieved between the acupuncture and control groups.
- The acupuncture group showed a higher embryo cleavage rate (100% vs. 87.39%) and lower basal FSH levels compared to the control group.
- No significant differences were observed in clinical pregnancy rates (34.29% vs. 21.43%) or live birth rates (21.43% vs. 15.71%).
- The study concluded that acupuncture did not significantly improve oocyte retrieval or clinical outcomes in POR patients.
