FCC alters the Wi-Fi router ban to include hotspots

The FCC has expanded its ban on foreign-made consumer-grade Wi-Fi routers to include portable Wi-Fi hotspots and LTE/5G CPE devices for residential use.
Existing devices, enterprise products, and mobile phones with hotspot features are exempt from the ban, and current customers of services like T-Mobile are unaffected.
The FCC has granted temporary approvals for some foreign-made routers, such as Netgear's Nighthawk and Orbi models, until October 2027, with possible future exemptions for hotspots.
