  • Iatrogenic Alzheimer disease (iAD) is described in recipients of cadaveric pituitary-derived human growth hormone (c-hGH) contaminated with amyloid-β (Aβ) seeds.
  • A case series of four male c-hGH recipients developed dementia with prominent language involvement, with symptom onset between ages 47 and 60.
  • Postmortem examination of one patient (age 57) showed severe tauopathy and neuropathological features of Alzheimer disease.
  • Findings suggest iAD can have histopathological features similar to sporadic Alzheimer disease, with language impairment as a potential phenotypic marker.
