- Episodic heavy drinking in MASLD is associated with increased odds of significant liver fibrosis (aOR 1.69) and advanced liver fibrosis (aOR 2.76).
- Including episodic heavy drinking in SLD nomenclature reclassifies patients from MASLD to MetALD, doubling MetALD prevalence (from 5.3% to 12.9%).
