- A clinical Salmonella enterica serovar Rissen isolate was found to carry a novel IncN2 plasmid (pSEay-KPC) with the blaKPC-2 gene.
- The plasmid also contained additional resistance genes (blaACC-1, blaTEM-1, qnrB), conferring broad-spectrum antimicrobial resistance.
- The pathogen survived two consecutive antibiotic therapies (ceftriaxone and ciprofloxacin) but was effectively treated with meropenem-vaborbactam.
- IncN2 plasmids are highlighted as potent vectors for spreading clinically significant resistance genes, complicating infection management.
