- Axial involvement in psoriatic arthritis (PsA) was studied in the AXIS cohort, a prospective cross-sectional study across 19 countries.
- After central imaging review, axial involvement was identified in 27.4% of 409 PsA participants, down from 37.4% in initial assessments.
- Key associated features of axial involvement included younger age, male predominance, HLA-B*27 positivity, inflammatory back pain, and elevated CRP.
- Imaging changes (active inflammation or structural lesions) in sacroiliac joints or spine were highly discriminative for axial involvement.
