- Intestinal-type gastric cancer (IGC) follows a multi-step carcinogenic process.
- Progenitor cells (PCs) are ancestors of antral gland mucous cells (GMCs) and pit mucous cells (PMCs) in NAG/CAG stages.
- In the IM stage, GMCs and PCs may develop intestinal-like stem cell phenotypes.
- Secretory progenitor cells differentiate into pre-secretory cells and goblet cells.
- KIAA0101+PRAP1+ PCs may be the origin of early IGC.
- Findings could aid in developing new prevention and treatment strategies for IGC.
