- Coccygodynia is pain in the coccyx region, lacking a universally accepted treatment.
- A prospective case series evaluated a combined manual therapy approach using myofascial physical therapy (MPT) and Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization (IASTM) for chronic coccygodynia.
- 15 participants, mostly female, were assessed; 87% (13 patients) showed significant pain reduction within 5 weeks, measured by the Numeric Pain Rating Scale.
- Secondary outcomes, including use of supportive sitting aids and urinary incontinence, also improved.
- The MPT and IASTM combination is a promising noninvasive treatment, though further research is needed.
