  • Metabolic-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD) affects about a third of the global population.
  • Life's Simple 7 (LS7), a cardiovascular health metric, was studied for its association with MASLD and liver fibrosis.
  • The study included 3204 participants from the Salzburg Colon Cancer Prevention Initiative (Sakkopi).
  • LS7 scores were categorized as poor (0-4), intermediate (5-9), and ideal (10-14).
  • MASLD prevalence was highest in the poor LS7 group (82%) compared to intermediate (47%) and ideal (16%) groups.
  • Higher LS7 scores were significantly associated with lower MASLD risk (RR 0.80; 95% CI 0.79-0.82; p<0.001).
  • Associations with liver fibrosis markers were weaker and varied by marker.
  • The study highlights the link between cardiometabolic health and liver disease.
  • Future research should explore longitudinal changes in LS7 and liver health outcomes.
