Stefan Lorant discovered a 1865 photo of Lincoln's funeral procession showing the house of Cornelius van Schaack Roosevelt.
Lorant noticed two boys in the window of the Roosevelt mansion, later confirmed by Teddy Roosevelt's wife to be a young Theodore and his brother Elliott.
In 1952, Josephine Cobb found a glass plate negative of the Gettysburg speakers' stand, revealing the first known photo of Lincoln at Gettysburg before his address.
