Big Data on the Cheapest MacBook

The MacBook Neo was tested for Big Data workloads using DuckDB.
It features a 6-core Apple A18 Pro CPU, 8GB RAM, and options for 256GB or 512GB storage.
Benchmarked using ClickBench and TPC-DS, it performed well in cold runs due to its local NVMe SSD.
In hot runs, cloud instances outperformed it, but the MacBook Neo still held its own against mid-sized cloud instances.
At SF100 in TPC-DS, it had a median query runtime of 1.63 seconds; at SF300, performance dipped due to memory constraints.
The MacBook Neo is not ideal for daily Big Data workloads due to its 8GB RAM and slower disk I/O compared to other models.
It is a good option for those who primarily use DuckDB in the cloud and occasionally need local data processing.
