Presenting Clinical Features of Vitreoretinal Lymphoma - PubMed

Vitreoretinal lymphoma is a rare cancer with diagnostic challenges.
Study analyzed data from 138 patients (57 men, 81 women) with an average age of 65.8 years.
Men presented at a younger mean age than women, with 40.4% under 60 years compared to 21.0% of women.
Diagnosis was confirmed via cell-based and molecular tests in 80.4% of cases, with 99.0% being diffuse large B-cell lymphoma.
The tumor was bilateral in 65.0% of patients, involving vitreous in 90.6% and retina in 60.1%.
Extraocular involvement was present in 26.8% of cases, mainly within the central nervous system (23.2%).
OCT abnormalities were found in 80.5% of patients, including subretinal and sub-retinal pigment epithelial nodules.
Visual acuity varied widely, with a median of 6/12; 54.6% had ≥6/12, 33.0% had <6/19, and 22.9% had ≤6/60.
Future research will focus on visual acuity and survival outcomes using the International Vitreoretinal B-Cell Lymphoma Registry.
