  • Immunofluorescence microscopy on blood smears is a promising method for diagnosing inherited platelet disorders (IPD).
  • An interlaboratory study validated the reproducibility of this method across seven laboratories.
  • High diagnostic accuracy was achieved for MYH9-related disease, Bernard-Soulier syndrome, Glanzmann thrombasthenia, and GFI1B-related thrombocytopenia.
  • Reasonable sensitivity was observed for TUBB1-related disorder, quantitative δ-storage pool disorder, and GATA1-related thrombocytopenia.
