  • Multicenter randomized controlled trial comparing cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), graded aerobic exercise (GAE), and combined intervention (FIT Teens) for juvenile fibromyalgia (JFM).
  • Study included 317 adolescents (86.4% girls, 84.2% White, mean age 15.8 years) with moderate-to-severe JFM.
  • All three interventions (CBT, GAE, FIT Teens) showed significant reduction in pain-related disability, with no significant differences between groups at 3, 6, 9, and 12-month follow-ups.
  • Pain intensity improved significantly at 9- and 12-month follow-ups.
  • Approximately 1 in 4 patients in the FIT and CBT groups showed clinically remarkable improvement.
  • Cognitive-behavioral and exercise-based treatments are promising for JFM management, but further research is needed to identify treatment responders and mechanisms of improvement.
