- Study on 91 patients with chronic and recalcitrant dermatophytosis in Türkiye (2022-2024).
- Molecular identification revealed 76 Trichophyton mentagrophytes ITS genotype VIII (TmVIII), 13 Trichophyton rubrum, one Trichophyton tonsurans, and one Microsporum canis.
- Predominant SQLE substitution was Phe397Leu, with Tyr414His co-occurring in nine TmVIII isolates; five novel substitutions observed.
- High MICs for terbinafine and fluconazole indicated resistance in most TmVIII isolates.
- 83 patients responded to fluconazole, itraconazole, terbinafine, or voriconazole-based regimens.
- Adjunct therapy with fluconazole and resveratrol improved 28/29 patients; itraconazole and curcumin successful in 3/3 patients.
- Highlights importance of EUCAST MIC testing and SQLE sequencing for surveillance.
- Supports further evaluation of resveratrol and curcumin as adjuncts in TRB-resistant TmVIII.
