- Study analyzed 1,372 adult inpatients with diabetes-related chronic non-healing wounds in Hainan province from July 2019 to July 2024.
- Patients were predominantly elderly (≥60 years), male, agricultural workers, with type 2 diabetes (98.91%) and comorbidities like hypertension.
- Main wound type was diabetic foot ulcer (809 cases), primarily located on feet and lower legs, often caused by infection.
- Pathogenic microorganism cultures from 540 patients showed Gram-negative bacteria as predominant, with high fungal detection rate (6.11%).
- Treatment mainly involved debridement and vacuum sealing drainage; most patients (84.62%) showed wound improvement at discharge.
- Diabetic foot ulcer patients had longer hospital stays and higher costs compared to other wound types.
