- Elevated blood levels of phosphorylated tau (p-tau) are diagnostic of Alzheimer disease and associated with amyloid-β deposition.
- Higher serum p-tau181 levels found in AL and ATTR amyloidosis groups compared to controls.
- Effects more pronounced in presence of polyneuropathy (PNP) and in AL compared to ATTR amyloidosis.
- No elevated p-tau181 levels in non-amyloidosis PNP cases.
- In presymptomatic ATTR, p-tau181 levels increased with predicted years from symptom onset.
