  • A metabolite risk model using four microbial metabolites effectively stratified nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) patients into low, intermediate, and high-risk groups, correlating with disease-free, distant metastasis-free, and overall survival.
  • The model, developed in a training cohort (n=202), was validated in independent test (n=201) and external validation (n=180) cohorts, and its predictive accuracy was enhanced by a nomogram combining it with N stage and plasma EBV-DNA load.
  • Patients in the intermediate-risk group showed improved survival benefit from induction chemotherapy, whereas low-risk and high-risk groups did not.
