Medicaid expansion under the ACA was linked to reduced mortality in colorectal cancer patients under 65, with a hazard ratio of 0.86 at 36 months.
The survival benefit was more pronounced in early-onset colorectal cancer patients under 50 years old, but no consistent effect was found in those aged 65 and older.
No population-level changes in cancer stage at diagnosis or rates of surgical resection were associated with Medicaid expansion, suggesting survival gains may come from improved care access and continuity.
