- Regular physical activity, such as high-intensity interval training (HIIT), improves metabolic dysfunction in PCOS.
- A 12-week HIIT program in women with PCOS (n=8) reduced fasting glucose levels and improved whole-body insulin sensitivity (measured by glucose infusion rate, GIR).
- HIIT upregulated extracellular matrix (ECM)-related genes but did not affect mitochondrial-related gene expression in skeletal muscle (SM) or subcutaneous adipose tissue (SAT).
