  • The study evaluates the quality and reliability of myasthenia gravis (MG)-related short videos on TikTok and Bilibili.
  • Top 150 MG-related videos from each platform were analyzed using Global Quality Score (GQS) and modified DISCERN (mDISCERN).
  • Videos mainly focused on symptoms (63.6%) and treatment (49.3%), with less emphasis on diagnosis (25.3%) and prevention (13.3%).
  • TikTok videos had a median GQS of 3 (2-3) and mDISCERN of 2 (2-3), while Bilibili videos scored lower with GQS 2 (1-3) and mDISCERN 2 (2-2).
  • Specialist-uploaded videos were of higher quality and reliability compared to individual users (P < 0.05).
  • Engagement metrics showed weak correlations with video quality and reliability (P < 0.05).
  • The study concludes that MG-related videos on both platforms have incomplete content structures and low quality and reliability.
  • Recommendations include stronger content moderation and professional involvement to improve digital health education.
