Different effect of aldosterone on corrected HCO3- across primary aldosteronism subtypes - PubMed

  • In PA, plasma aldosterone concentration (PAC) correlates with lower serum potassium and higher cHCO3-, but not in non-PA.
  • Unilateral PA (uPA) shows significant correlations between PAC and both potassium and cHCO3-, while bilateral PA (bPA) shows weaker or no correlation.
  • cHCO3- is a potential biomarker for evaluating disease activity and detecting uPA, especially with PAC ≥ 150 pg/mL and cHCO3- ≥ 28 mmol/L.
