- Robotic-assisted total knee arthroplasty (rTKA) adoption in Ontario, Canada increased from 1.7% of cases in 2019 to 5.8% in 2023.
- In a large, population-based study of 74,359 TKAs, rTKA was associated with a significantly higher rate of major surgical complications within one year compared to conventional TKA (cTKA).
- Major complications (composite of revision, deep infection requiring surgery, or fracture requiring surgery) occurred in 2.0% of rTKA patients versus 1.0% of matched cTKA patients, with a hazard ratio of 2.01.
