German nurse convicted of murdering 10 patients to reduce his workload

A palliative nurse was convicted of murdering 10 patients and attempting to murder 27 others with lethal injections.
The nurse injected mostly elderly patients with painkillers or sedatives to ease his workload at night.
The crimes occurred between December 2023 and May 2024 in a clinic near Aachen, Germany.
The court deemed the crime particularly severe, reducing chances of early release after 15 years.
The verdict can be appealed.
Investigators are examining other suspicious incidents during the nurse’s career.
In 2019, a former nurse was jailed for life for murdering 85 patients, the worst post-war killing spree in Germany.
