Information we collect

You can browse and read everything on Hasty Briefs without creating an account and without telling us who you are.

• Account information — if you choose to sign in, authentication is handled by our sign-in service at int2inf.com. We receive an identifier for your account so that saved items can be associated with you. We never see or store your password.
• Saved items and notes — the stories you star and any memo text you attach to them are stored so we can show them back to you on your Favorites page. They are private to your account and are never displayed publicly.
• Technical log data — like most websites, our servers record standard request information such as IP address, browser and device type, referring page and timestamp. This is used for security, abuse prevention and fault diagnosis.

We do not ask for, and have no use for, your real name, phone number or postal address.

Cookies and local storage

A cookie is a small file that a website places on your device. Hasty Briefs relies on them in three ways:

• Essential cookies — used to keep you signed in. Without them the Favorites feature cannot work.
• Preference storage — your Bilingual mode toggle is kept in your browser's local storage and is never sent to our servers.
• Analytics and advertising cookies — set by the third parties described in the next two sections.

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Blocking essential cookies will sign you out; blocking the rest has no effect on your ability to read the site.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 to understand aggregate traffic patterns — which pages get read, roughly where readers come from, and which features are used. Google Analytics sets cookies and processes this data on our behalf. We do not use it to identify individual readers.

You can opt out of Google Analytics on every website by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on from https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout

Advertising

Hasty Briefs displays advertising supplied by Google AdSense in order to cover its running costs.

• Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website or to other websites.
• Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this site and/or other sites on the Internet.
• You may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google's Ads Settings at https://www.google.com/settings/ads
• You can opt out of a third-party vendor's use of cookies for personalized advertising at https://www.aboutads.info/choices

We never share your account identifier, favorites or private notes with advertisers, and we do not sell personal information.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export or delete the personal data we hold about you, and to object to certain processing. Readers covered by the GDPR have these rights directly; readers in California should note that we do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined by the CCPA.

To exercise any of these rights, email hello@int2inf.com and we will respond within 30 days. Deleting your account also removes your favorites and notes.

Retention and security

Account identifiers, favorites and notes are kept until you ask us to delete them. Server logs are retained for a limited period for security and debugging. All traffic to this site is encrypted with HTTPS.

Children's privacy

Hasty Briefs is written for a general adult audience and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

International transfers

The site runs on Cloudflare's global network, so your request is served from — and log data may be processed in — a region close to you. Our service providers may process data in the United States and in other countries.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes materially, we will update the date shown at the top of this page. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the revised policy.
