- Claude for K-12 Teachers offers free premium access to US educators to reduce planning and paperwork, allowing more focus on students.
- It includes teaching skills and integrates with Learning Commons for curriculum aligned to state standards, plus trusted sources like Illustrative Mathematics and OpenSciEd.
- Key features: generate lesson plans and quizzes quickly, differentiate materials for varied student needs, and provide safe handling of student data with FERPA-aligned privacy and no model training on content by default.
- Educators can use Claude for tasks like creating formative assessments (e.g., a photosynthesis check-in for 8th grade science), drafting parent emails, and building quizzes tied to specific standards.
- The platform addresses common student misconceptions, such as in fraction multiplication for Grade 5, by surfacing faulty mental models and providing discussion questions to correct them.
- Additional tools include Claude Cowork for scheduled tasks, Claude Design for polished materials, Claude for Chrome for web research, and Claude Skills for customizable workflows.
- Access is free for verified US K-12 teachers until June 30, 2027, with usage limits and terms subject to change, and a dedicated school/district offering is in development.
