- TRMNL introduces an Agent that allows users to build plugins by typing a description, currently in public beta.
- Requires an API key from OpenRouter or Anthropic, with an optional free Tavily API key for web search capabilities.
- Quickstart: enable Agent in account settings, configure model/keys, create a private plugin, and use the Agent tab to build or guide development.
- The Agent uses a comprehensive system prompt and tools like markup editing, settings updates, internet search, and API endpoints to assist users.
- An MCP Server option is available for advanced local development with an MCP API key.
- FAQs: supports multiple models (Gemini, Claude, etc.), costs $1–3 per plugin on average, publishing is not yet available, and free models can be used but may be less capable.
